SOUND VELOCITY SENSOR - AQSV-1500.

The AQUAMATIC sound
velocity sensor AQSV-1500 has no moving parts for detection of
the sound velocity in water. The ultrasonic sensor operates in
sea water as well as rivers, measuring velocity between 1400 -
1600 m/sec. profiling or monitoring.
The sensor contain one piezoelectric transducer (2 MHz) mounted
in the main housing. One reflector plate mounted (52 mm away) in
a adjustable distance from the transducer. Temperature
stabilisation is obtained by using special "Invar"
steel for the three distance pins. The measuring principle is
"Sing Around" where the change in frequency (2 MHz) is
converted into Sound Velocity.
Features include a pressure stable and waterproof construction
designed for easy maintenance at sea. Small dimensions, good linearity, high accuracy
and long time stability.
The acoustic transmission losses might be too large for proper
operation, if the water contains bubbles of gas or air, if the
water contains greater particles (diameter over ø 0,2 mm) or the
water has high turbulence movement.
